Away from the tourist crowds, this townhouse is ideally located in Maalaea, with direct access to Sugar Beach, the longest walking beach in Maui, and Maalaea Bay where sea turtles swim along the shore year round and Humpback whales frolic off the coast with their babies in winter.

This two bedroom, two bathroom condo is decorated in modern beach style, with extra touches like a guest Netflix account on the big screen TV, espresso machine and milk foamer for morning lattes, and an in-unit washer and dryer. Not to mention beach chairs, boogie boards, and other beach essentials!

Local Restaurants
Great breakfast and lunch can be found right down the street at the Maalaea General Store, or try lunch or dinner at local favorite Beach Bums BBQ right on the harbor.
Pristine Beaches
Sugar Beach is one of the longest, purest stretches of sand on the island. Rarely crowded, its 5-mile length offers uninterrupted views of Maui's South Shore, Molokini, and Kaho'olawe. The waters are perfect for swimming, body surfing, stand-up paddleboard, and fishing. If you head further out from shore there are some coral heads with good snorkeling, although we would recommend other spots on the island for ideal snorkeling. The beach has trees along most of its length, providing nice opportunities to rest in the shade when you've had enough of the tropical sun.
Accessible Nature Preserves
A short walk down Sugar Beach takes you to a beautiful marsh area with boardwalks and viewing platforms to check out the local birds and get a view of the distant mountains and sugar cane fields. You can also reach the preserve by car, taking the main road back toward Kihei.
Sea Life
Maalaea is one of the best places on the island to view sea-life without even entering the water. The bay is a favorite hang-out for sea turtles, who can frequently be seen through the crests of waves, or popping their heads up for a breath. In December through April typically, you can also see Humpback whales. Mother whales will often come to the bay with their young calves. You'll see spouts, tail displays, and even breaches as they hang out in the protected waters.
Mini Golf, Bumper Boats, and Aquariums - Oh My!
If you're looking for more organized fun, you need go no further than Maalaea Harbor just down the end of the street from Makani a Kai. There you will find Maui Ocean Center Aquarium as well as the Pacific Whale Foundation which organizes excellent whale watching trips. Just across the street is a mini golf center complete with volcano tunnels and loop-the-loops. And they have bumper boats in a small pool that can shoot water at one another!
Staycation
If your ideal day involves no greater ambition than eventually getting out of bed, you're in luck. The property has a beautiful pool, and great Weber grills by the water's edge, so you don't need to go anywhere to feel like you're getting away.
